Our college is a Federal Government Initiative whereby students study Year 11 and 12 while being employed as School Based Apprentices. Students: • Attend school to study for their Higher School Certificate • Attend TAFE or an RTO for their industry training • Attend work and get paid (on the job training) In short what that means is that students are indentured apprentices completing the standard TAFE training for their industry area one day per week. This new concept in secondary education is set to revolutionise the apprenticeship system. Students who know they want to do a trade can get started whilst they complete their education. Employers will end up with motivated, well trained employees who have been supported through the first stage of their apprenticeship. Students are studying to become Bricklayers, Commercial Cooks, Carpenters, Electricians, Motor Mechanics, Plumbers, Painters The normal incentives for apprentices apply to the employer. All of our students looking for apprenticeships to partner their study have passed the NECA, MBA,MTA or MPAL entrance tests. We are also happy to arrange for medical and interviews as required. The college is located at King’s Park and our students are from Penrith, Springwood, the Hawkesbury and Blacktown, Hills areas. We welcome enquiries from students and employers. Contact the college on 9851 8888. |
