O-I is the world’s largest manufacturer of glass containers.
O-I’s Sydney plant employs more than 360 people.
Around 80% of those employees live in Penrith and District.
O-I Sydney is one of the largest private sector employers in the area.
We make 4 million containers (beer, wine and food) a day – this equates to 1000 tonnes of glass produced per day. We are a 24 / 7 operation and use local suppliers wherever practical. In 2008, we invested more than $20 million in a furnace and equipment upgrade – demonstrating our long term commitment to the area. Glass is 100 per cent recyclable, extremely environmentally friendly and one of the most sustainable packaging materials on earth.
