Two of Greater Sydney’s most spectacular features converge in Penrith Valley making Penrith well known as one of Sydney’s most scenic and progressive cities. One is the world heritage listed Blue Mountains and the other is the Nepean River - one of the great rivers of eastern Australia.

The Penrith CBD and St Marys Town Centre anchor the city’s metropolitan appeal and colourful history.  The City has consolidated its position as the principal centre of outer Western Sydney attracting a wide range of retail, commercial and professional services serving Penrith, Hawkesbury, Blue
Mountains, Central West NSW and increasingly other parts of Western Sydney.

Penrith offers a unique lifestyle that is built on harmonising its urban and rural qualities unmatched in the Western Sydney region. It boasts the cosmopolitan and cultural lifestyle of a mature City and the casual character and charm of a rural community.  Penrith is located some 54 kilometres from Sydney and 50 kilometres from Katoomba in the Blue Mountains and is home to over 178, 000 people.

This population is expected to reach 300, 000 by 2031. Penrith City Councilhas adopted the principles of sustainability to guide its decisions and actions articulated in Council’s Strategic Plan and annual Management Plans. The ‘Sustainable Penrith Program’ is a commitment to ensure a higher quality of life for all - both now and in the future - through economic growth, environmental protection and social equity.

Penrith’s historical role as a metropolitan centre and its significant capacity to grow both its urban form and industry, has resulted in the City’s elevation to a Regional City. This brings challenges for the City’s urban growth and relationship with the broader regions and Sydney itself. It also creates major opportunities for a diverse range of investment to meet the objectives of the Metro Strategy.

Panthers began in Penrith as a single club whose purpose was to promote and support Rugby League. It is still a single entity - but spread over 14 club sites across New South Wales.

These clubs are Bathurst (2), Cardiff, Glenbrook, Lavington, Mekong, Newcastle, North Richmond, Penrith, Port Macquarie (2), St John's Park, Wallacia, and West Epping.

The heart of Panthers amalgamation strategy was to allow the clubs to retain as much autonomy as possible - and certainly to respect their individual traditions and histories.  For this reason each club has its own Advisory Board which - together with local management - looks after the day to day running of the business and decides on how to spend its community budget.

Members of the local boards are eligible to nominate for the Group Board.

The strength of the organisation lies in this "dual citizenship" approach.

Vintage 87.6 is Penrith's youngest radio station. We have a simple motto: " Old Is Good".

If you remember...Elvis as the King, rather than a fire bombing helicopter , Mac The Knife as a song rather than a man with a weapon , Donovan as a singer rather than Kylie Minogue's first boyfriend......then we play the music that you grew up with.

Vintage 87.6 plays a collection of hits from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Before you decide it's old, have a listen and see how young it makes you feel.
In between the songs, there's a collection of bits and pieces that modern radio has forgotten:

Dad & Dave - An iconic radio drama

Yes What - The first ever radio comedy

Chickenman - The original radio superhero

Add to that a collection of local business profiles, information on Penrith and Sydney's Greater West and updates on what's going on in your local area, and you've got Penrith's newset radio station.
With a crew of on air personalities with over 100 years experience including Jason Bouman-Breakfast, Wayne Tunks - Mornings, David A - Afternoons and Rossco- Drive time. We also produce our own News with Kerry Denton.
